KUWAIT CITY, May 21, (KUNA): Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi announced on Tuesday the inauguration of a new physical therapy and rehabilitation building at Al-Adan Hospital, marking a significant enhancement in health services aligned with international standards. The announcement follows the Ministry of Health’s strategic plan to introduce nine major projects at Al-Adan Hospital.
Minister Al-Awadhi detailed that the new facility spans five floors, with dedicated sections for men, women, and children. Each section comprises physical therapy and rehabilitation centers, hydrotherapy facilities, and specialized clinics for occupational therapy and individuals with special needs. The facility is staffed by a national team of 123 therapists and includes training and research halls. This building is one of nine new constructions at Al-Adan Hospital, which also includes a surgery center, a maternity and children’s center with over 28 operating rooms, and three parking structures. These buildings are scheduled to open successively in the coming weeks.
"The Ministry is operating under a clear plan with performance indicators and specific timelines," stated Al-Awadhi. "Several buildings have been rescheduled for opening within the 100-day plan, as directed by His Highness the Prime Minister."
Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering Affairs and Projects at the Ministry, Ibrahim Al-Naham, highlighted the new building as the largest physical therapy center, covering an area of 6,000 square meters. The facility includes a basement, ground floor, and three upper floors, all designed to the latest standards.
Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad emphasized that the new project is overseen by the Ministry’s Engineering Affairs and Projects Sector. The project includes nine buildings, featuring a maternity and childhood building with 637 beds, 21 operating rooms, 16 facilities, a technical department, a general and specialized surgery building, a physical therapy and rehabilitation center, visitor parking, a health district administration building, and additional parking floors.
The physical therapy department at Al-Adan Hospital serves three categories: inpatients, those in intensive and cardiac care at the Salman Al-Dabbous Center, and outpatients who receive therapy and return home. Dr. Ali Al-Muhanna, head of the physical therapy department, remarked that the new building represents a substantial advancement in Kuwait’s healthcare quality, significantly enhancing patient care and support.
"The facility offers comprehensive services, including occupational therapy, speech therapy, and swallowing services, facilitating easier access to necessary rehabilitation services for patients," said Dr. Al-Muhanna.
