PAM pumps life into financial rights

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 6: The Public Authority for Manpower has activated a new mechanism to ensure the protection of financial rights of workers in the private sector and also domestic workers, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily has learned that the concerned PAM departments are now requesting the worker’s fingerprint on the work permit cancellation form to ensure that he/ she receives his full financial dues. The same sources said that this step would ensure that the terms of the clearance between the worker and the employer are finally met, and that the first party obtains its financial dues.

The sources stated that the form prepared by the authority and uploaded on the automated system is in five different languages, and is considered as bearing the responsibility between the two parties, whether the worker or the employer.

The sources indicated that the Authority’s Labor Relations Department continues to receive complaints and labor observations on a daily basis in its various departments and works with full capacity to solve any problems between the worker and the employer and the application of the law. The sources pointed out that canceling the work permit is only after the worker receives his dues, and the transfer can be obtained based on the regulations in force with the authority in the event that there is another employer to whom the worker’s file is transferred.

The sources revealed that the authority is about to launch an electronic system for following up on the mechanism of disbursing the salaries of workers in the private sector, both citizens and residents. The sources stated that the Authority’s Information Systems Department has recently developed a system for disbursing salaries for workers in the private sector, and it has been presented to the Inspection Department, pointing out that the developed system will be launched in an integrated manner and work through it to follow up on salary certificates and the extent of commitment to pay financial dues and apply regulations and penalties on those who do not comply via the Inspection Department.
