KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: The Civil Service Commission has directed that all employees working morning and evening shifts must clock in when beginning overtime work, but only after completing their official working hours. The Bureau confirmed that this requirement also applies to employees assigned to evening shifts.
However, the circular did not include any instructions requiring employees to clock out when leaving after completing their overtime hours.
In an official circular issued by Assistant Undersecretary Salah Al-Saqabi to all sectors, CSC clarified that Article 3 of Civil Service Council Resolution No. 12 of 2012—related to compensation for overtime and shift work—states that “overtime eligible for compensation is that which is performed after the completion of the day’s official working hours.” Accordingly, all employees must clock in when starting overtime, including those working evening shifts.
