TEL AVIV, IRAN, Jun 8: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel would respond forcefully if attacks against the country resume, saying he had conveyed the same message to U.S. President Donald Trump. “If they make a mistake and resume attacks, we will respond powerfully,” Netanyahu said, adding that Israel would continue to exercise its right to self-defense whenever necessary. He also accused Iran and Hezbollah of attempting to establish a new reality in which attacks could be launched against Israel without triggering retaliation, describing such a situation as unacceptable.
Meanwhile, Iran signaled that it was prepared to escalate if hostilities continued. Ali Khezrian, a member of Iran’s parliament National Security Committee, said Tehran would resume missile operations if Israel attacks Lebanon, asserting that Iran would no longer tolerate what it described as ceasefire violations in Lebanon and southern Iran. He rejected suggestions that the Islamic Republic had entered a conflict limited to Lebanon, calling such claims false and insisting that violations had occurred on multiple fronts.
Separately, Mohammad-Bagher Zolghadr, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, issued a sharp warning to what he called the “Zionist-American coalition,” saying any new mistake would turn the region into “hell” for its adversaries. Zolghadr said decades of resistance had reshaped the regional security landscape and warned Washington and Tel Aviv against further actions that could intensify tensions across the Middle East.
