KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Nepal has warned rescue workers and security personnel to move to safer locations after Chinese authorities reported another dam burst and a breach of a barrier lake in Tibet, officials said Friday.
Nepal Police urged rescuers and the public to remain alert and take precautions amid fears of a second flash flood following Wednesday’s devastating floods. Rasuwa officials said China had informed them of a breach in a barrier lake formed after the earlier deluge, but the report had not yet been independently verified by Nepalese authorities. Earlier, Chinese authorities had also suspended rescue operations in Tibet over the risk of another flash flood from an overflowing barrier lake.
