KUWAIT CITY, April 22: More than 100 polygamy-related cases were filed by Kuwaiti women against their husbands, claiming bias and unfair treatment towards the wives, and demanding separation and compensation. The plaintiffs’ counsel Lawyer Hawra Al-Habib explained that justice does not come only in financial spending, but also in family care and expressing feelings resulting from affection and mercy recommended by the Holy Qur’an.

Her clients are asking for divorce after being neglected, as some of their husbands do not provide for them financially or emotionally, and others were neglected by their husbands to the extent of even not asking about their well being after getting involved with other women. She emphasized that masculinity is justice, not injustice, and therefore the demand for equality is not supposed to exist, but rather it is the origin and based on one’s own initiative. Lawyer Al-Habib revealed that there are about 1,400 Kuwaiti citizens who are polygamous, according to statistics, but everyone who takes this step must know that there are conditions for ensuring justice and fairness, otherwise he will be held accountable before the law.
