KUWAIT CITY, May 30: Qadsia’s Congolese foreign player Neskins Kibanou is set to become the second overseas departure from the squad ahead of next season, after the club decided not to renew his contract.
The move follows the earlier exit of Algerian Sofiane Bouchar, who was the first foreign player to leave Al-Ahmar.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that a player agent has offered South African forward Sianda Ndoulfo to Qadsia as a potential signing.
Ndoulfo, born in 2003, currently plays for Lamontville Golden Arrows in South Africa and has attracted interest from major clubs such as Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Qadsia head coach Nabil Maâloul confirmed after his side’s 3-0 win over Jahra in Round 17 of the Zain Premier League at Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium that negotiations are ongoing to renew the contract of Bahraini midfielder Mahdi Hamidan, while also acknowledging the departures of Bouchar and Kibanou.
Qadsia rising star Abdullah Al-Ghaniman said it is natural for the team to target qualification for Asian competitions, praising the team’s performance in the victory over Jahra.
He added that Qadsia treats every match as a final, stressing that the inclusion of young players reflects the coaching staff’s confidence in the squad and their ability to step up when needed.
The win saw Qadsia return to second place in the league standings after Al-Salmiya briefly overtook it earlier in the round following a 2-0 victory over Al-Fahaheel.
Qadsia now sits on 31 points, with Al-Salmiya on 29, while Jahra remains on 8 points in tenth place and is increasingly threatened by relegation, sitting seven points adrift of safety.
In another fixture, Al-Tadamon strengthened its survival hopes with a 2-0 away win over Al-Shabab at Al-Shabab Stadium. Both teams are now level on 15 points.
