NCCAL’s official suspended

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: Minister of Information Hamad Rouh El-Din has suspended the Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters Kamel Al-Abd Al-Jalil from work and referred him for investigation against the background of administrative abuses and suspicions of involving public funds. For its part, informed sources told Al-Seyassah the minister issued the decision after it was found that the secretary-general had collected the pension and his salary in the National Assembly since 2014, adding that the investigation committee will begin its procedures to find out the details of the incident, take all legal measures and submit a report to the minister after completing its procedures.

The Chairman of the Kuwait Library and Information Association, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Suwait, during a press conference recently, accused the NCCAL Secretary-General of wasting money, trespassing and benefiting his relatives, adding that he allocated 137,000 dinars to one of his relatives who owns a special cultural center and allowed the travel of persons from outside the Council on foreign missions. He pointed out that the council has failed to recover 22,000 dinars, which were unduly spent on social allowances for employees and an encouragement reward of 33,200 dinars who were not entitled for these benefits and other similar violations.
