NCCAL inks cultural cooperation with Kuwaiti Artists Association

KUWAIT CITY, May 19: The National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature signed today, Wednesday, a memorandum of cultural cooperation with the Kuwaiti Artists Association, in implementation of the government’s vision of developing joint cooperation between government agencies and civil society institutions. The Secretary-General of the Council, Kamel Al-Abd Al-Jalil, said in a press statement on this occasion that the memorandum will contribute to deepening and strengthening cultural and artistic relations and frame them with many joint and distinguished activities that were stipulated in this, based on the balance of the leading and upscale artistic association inside and outside Kuwait.

Al-Abd Al-Jalil affirmed the council’s keenness to develop bilateral partnerships with the association in every field that serves art and artists, indicating that these community partnerships come under the directives of the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi with the aim of strengthening cooperation with civil society institutions. He explained that the council will activate artistic, research and cultural cooperation with the Kuwaiti Artists Association for the benefit of issues in Kuwaiti society in accordance with the frameworks agreed upon in the memorandum, with full attention to the copyright and related rights law. For his part, the Assistant Secretary- General for the Culture Sector, the official spokesperson for the Council, Dr. Issa Al-Ansari, said in a similar statement that the memorandum is valid for three years, renewable automatically, and provides for many areas of cooperation. He added that from this cooperation coordination of a joint media campaign to market all cultural events and training courses for the workers agreed on through the social media sites of the two parties, according to the agreed media. He explained that the memorandum also provides for the encouragement of the establishment of cooperation relations, the exchange of scientific, research and training experiences, and scientific trips between the two parties, the exchange of books, periodicals and publications issued by them and the research programs, and the encouragement of intellectual, cultural and knowledge production aimed at developing society and the nation.

He said that the memorandum also provides for the exchange of the results of seminars, lectures, training programs, and all activities and activities related to the purposes and objectives of both parties, and to provide cooperation and exchange of experiences with regard to joint cultural and artistic workshops. He indicated that the memorandum included coordination and cooperation in preparing and adopting a timetable for the implementation of joint activities and events that will be held throughout the year and participating in providing the requirements for organization and preparation, provided that it is high-level and the type of distinct and unconventional activity according to what is agreed upon and achieves the objectives of the values of society.

In turn, the Vice President of the Kuwaiti Artists Association, Anwar Abdullah, thanked in a similar statement Minister Al-Mutairi and Secretary General of the Council Kamel Al-Abd Al-Jalil for their great role in supporting the association and activating its activities and their eagerness to build bridges of joint cooperation and provide a headquarters for it in a way that contributes to achieving stability for its function and revitalizing its distinguished artistic work. The National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature had prepared a timetable for signing several memorandum of understanding and cooperation with public benefit societies related to cultural, artistic and heritage affairs during the month of May.
