NBK contributes KD 1 mln to the restoration & rehabilitation of Kuwait’s land border crossings

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: Reflecting his commitment to strengthening national partnerships with government entities and supporting state institutions in the delivery of vital projects, Mr. Isam J. Al-Sager, Vice Chairman and Group CEO of National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), visited the Ministry of Interior, where he met with H.E. Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al- Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

During the meeting, NBK announced a KD 1 million contribution to support the restoration and rehabilitation of Kuwait’s land border crossings, including Abdali, Salmi and Nuwaiseeb. The contribution supports government efforts to develop the infrastructure of the border crossings and enhance their readiness. This contribution refl ects NBK’s deep-rooted sense of national responsibility and its steadfast commitment to protecting Kuwait’s vital assets. It also reaffirms that the role of national institutions extends beyond supporting the economy to actively enhancing the readiness of strategic facilities and supporting the state’s efforts under all circumstances.

The initiative also refl ects NBK’s approach to directing its contributions towards projects of national priority, in line with its position as a leading institution committed to supporting Kuwait’s development journey and strengthening the foundations of growth and stability. Building on this foundation, the contribution underscores NBK’s leadership in national and social responsibility, as well as its longstanding record of launching and supporting strategic initiatives with sustainable impact. It refl ects the Bank’s vision of creating meaningful value for society and contributing to the advancement of the state’s development aspirations.

It is worth noting that, during its Meeting No. (32/2026) – (118), held on August 18, the Council of Ministers approved the Ministry of Interior’s request to accept NBK’s KD 1 million contribution in support of the restoration and rehabilitation of the country’s land border crossings. This initiative builds on a sustained series of strategic contributions by NBK to Kuwait’s vital sectors. Most recently, the Bank contributed KD 1.3 million to upgrade the facilities of Kuwait International Airport and enhance its operational readiness as a key national gateway. NBK also contributed $5 million to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund, managed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, reinforcing its leading role in supporting government efforts to address crises and exceptional circumstances and mitigate their impact with efficiency, agility and resilience.
