KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: Assistant Secretary- General and spokesman of the Corruption Detection and Investigation Sector at Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) Dr Muhammad Buzuber said the government issued a decision to refer dozens of officials in four government agencies to the Public Prosecution for investigation on suspicion of corruption, reports Al- Sabah daily.

He said in an interview with London-based newspaper Al-Arabi Al-Jadid that these senior officials are assigned in the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Finance, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Kuwait Municipality.

He also disclosed that majority of cases are related to financial irregularities and suspicions of corruption in appointments. He added there is a long list of government officials suspected of corruption, but Nazaha is still waiting for completion of investigations and gathering of evidence.

“The authority received explicit orders from HH the Prime Minister and the highest leadership in the State to take action against corrupt officials in government bodies, so we will not tolerate anyone engaged in corruption and the list will include many names in the coming period,” he concluded.
