DUBAI, UAE, Dec 14: The holiday hustle is underway, and Dubai International Airport (DXB) anticipates a surge of around 4.4 million travelers between December 15 and December 31. Whether expatriates are embarking on journeys to reunite with family or visitors are landing in Dubai to revel in the festive spirit, the daily average footfall is projected to hit approximately 258,000, peaking on Friday, December 22, at an estimated 279,000 passengers. To navigate the festive rush smoothly, DXB shared practical tips on Thursday.

• Opt for Dubai Metro when traveling to and from Terminals 1 and 3 at the airport; note that Metro operating hours are typically extended during festive holidays and peak periods.
• Emirates passengers can streamline their journey with home, early, and self-service check-in options, along with a city check-in facility at ICD Brookfield Place in the DIFC area and a dedicated facility in Ajman.
• For flydubai travelers, it is advisable to arrive at least four hours before departure.
• Passengers flying with other airlines should aim to arrive no earlier than three hours before the scheduled departure time; utilize online check-in when available for time-saving.
• Families with children aged 12 and above can expedite the passport control process by using Smart Gates.
• Stay informed about the latest travel regulations for your destination and ensure you have all necessary travel documents in order.
• Prepare for security checks by weighing luggage at home, organizing documents in advance, and packing spare batteries and power banks in your hand luggage.
• Bid farewells at home as only passengers are permitted inside terminals during peak periods.
• If possible, avoid Airport Road leading to Terminals 1 and 3 or anticipate congestion during peak hours.
• Access to arrivals' forecourts in Terminals 1 and 3 is restricted to public transport and authorized airport vehicles only; those picking up guests should utilize DXB's designated car parks or valet services.
Festive Entertainment
Once you're at the airport, take advantage of DXB's amenities, including restaurants, duty-free shopping, hotel accommodations, and exclusive lounge access before your flight. Throughout Terminals 1, 2, and 3, a variety of activities await, such as a 3D photo opportunity inside a giant snow globe. Festive performers will be spreading holiday cheer by distributing chocolates and other gifts. And, of course, Santa and his elves will be making special appearances.
Essa Al Shamsi, Senior Vice President of Terminal Operations at Dubai Airports, remarked, "With the holiday spirit in full swing, we are fully prepared for this travel peak – your ticket to a memorable experience. Our dedicated teams across DXB are committed to ensuring a cheerful and bright festive travel experience."
