The National Guard players celebrate at the end of the Super Cup.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15: The 2023-2024 Ministries Basketball Super Cup was claimed by the National Guard team, emerging victorious with a 77-74 win over the Ministry of Electricity and Water at the Yousef Al-Shaheen Al-Ghanem Hall in the Kazma Club.

In a thrilling showdown, the Guard players showcased their experience, securing the win in the final moments and thwarting the spirited efforts of the Kahraba players, who had performed admirably and came close to clinching victory.

Walid Al-Sultan, Chairman of the Basketball Technical Committee and member of the Supreme Committee for the League of Ministries, Governmental Bodies, and Institutions, presented the championship cup to the Guards team and awarded second-place medals to the Electricity and Water players.

Al-Sultan extended his congratulations to the Guard players for their Super Cup triumph in the latest edition of the League of Ministries, Bodies, and Government Institutions. He commended the Kahraba players for their commendable performance despite the loss, acknowledging their strong challenge against the Guard. He remarked, "The Kahraba team played a stellar match, providing formidable opposition for the Guard. The match was decided in the closing moments, with the Guard maintaining their lead—an impressive testament to their ascendancy. The upcoming league competitions, featuring the participation of five teams in a two-round system, are set to commence next week."
