KUWAIT CITY, Oct 25: Al-Nasr moved up to third in the Zain Premier League standings after a convincing 3-0 win over Al-Sahel at Nayef Al-Dabbous Stadium in the sixth round.
The win took Al-Nasr to 12 points, while Al-Sahel remained in ninth place with four points.
Al-Sahel started brightly and threatened early but failed to convert a clear scoring chance. The visitor’s task grew harder when Lucas de Souza was sent off. Al-Nasr capitalized on the advantage, with Mauritanian midfielder Sidi Yacoub opening the scoring from a free kick in the 28th minute. Tunisian forward Hazem Ben Issa then doubled the lead with a powerful effort in the 43rd minute.
Al-Nasr continued to control the game after the break, capitalizing on its numerical advantage. Musfer Al-Adwani completed the scoring in the 85th minute to seal the 3-0 win.
In another fixture at Thamer Stadium, Salmiya edged Al-Jahra 1-0.
Salmiya made an immediate impact, with Mubarak Al-Fanini finding the net in the sixth minute to give the hosts an early lead. Al-Jahra pushed for an equalizer but struggled to break down Salmiya’s defense as the hosts held on to win.
The result temporarily lifted Salmiya to fifth place with 9 points, while Al-Jahra remained in eighth place with 4 points.
The sixth round continues on Wednesday with two postponed fixtures. Al-Arabi takes on Fahaheel at Sabah Al-Salem Stadium, while Al-Shabab hosts Qadsia.
The matches were rescheduled because Al-Arabi and Qadsia were participating in the AFC Challenge League, with both clubs completing their campaigns last Friday.
Qadsia has nine points from four matches, while Al-Shabab has seven points from five matches. Al-Arabi has three points from four matches, and Fahaheel has collected nine points from five outings.
