KUWAIT CITY, March 9: A task force comprised of the Public Authority for Manpower, Residency Affairs Investigation, and Ministry of Commerce has solved the enigma of food supply sales on the black market. Over the course of two days, they tracked down street vendors who were discovered to be procuring items from violating stores in the Al-Firdous and Al-Raqi areas.

According to sources, the task force apprehended expatriate vendors of Bangladeshi and Syrian expats who had been buying goods from a Syrian expatriate, who in turn obtained them from an unspecified group of nationalities. The committee plans to distribute inspectors to supply centers and cooperative societies, as well as their branches, to dismantle the network.

Meanwhile, the capital’s emergency team raided a warehouse in a house in the Al-Hasawi area in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, which was being used by a Bengali gang to stockpile large quantities of subsidized supplies, reports Al Rai. The campaign led to the seizure of subsidized supplies, including rice, sugar, and milk, which were being packaged in bags belonging to food companies and sold to customers.

Head of the capital’s emergency team, Hamed Al-Dhafiri, expressed his concern about the large quantities of subsidized food items being monitored for illegal sale. He emphasized that such violations are punishable by law and that individuals who give or sell rations with a ration card will have their card suspended and blocked.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Commerce will impose penalties, and the General Administration of Customs at land, sea, and air ports will cooperate to control any food supplies leaving the country.
