MUSCAT, May 31: Customs authorities at Muscat International Airport successfully intercepted a drug smuggling attempt involving a significant quantity of narcotics, officials said.
During routine inspection procedures, officers discovered 17 packages of marijuana weighing a total of 6.179 kilograms concealed in the personal luggage of a passenger arriving at the airport.
The seizure was made as part of ongoing security and customs monitoring measures aimed at preventing the entry of illegal substances into the country.
Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against the individual involved, and further investigation is underway.
Officials reiterated their commitment to strengthening border controls and maintaining strict enforcement against drug trafficking attempts through Oman’s ports of entry.
