Municipality to allocate site for headquarters of Kuwait Telecom Company

Council takes appropriate decisions on requests to allocate site

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26: Kuwait Municipality has agreed to the request of the Communications and Information Technology Commission to allocate a headquarters for the Kuwait Telecom Company in Mirqab area, Block 1, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources. They explained that the municipality referred to the Municipal Council its technical opinion on the request to allocate the site, in preparation for its discussion and study, and for taking an appropriate decision regarding it.

The municipality recommended the following: 1. Reallocation of site No. 1 of with an area of 5698.5 square meters to the Communications and Information Technology Commission as the headquarters of the Kuwait Telecom Company. 2. Allocation of site No. 3 with the adjacent yard at site No. 2 as a multistorey car park building, with a total area of approximately 3,940 square meters. 3. Allocation of site No. 4 with an area of approximately 2,000 square meters as an alternative site for Mirqab Police Station.

The municipality called for taking into account the following requirements:

■ Obtaining the approval of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) and the Ministry of Services before installation.

■ Obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Interior before installation.

■ Construction of the car parking building to be carried out at the expense of the Kuwait Telecom Company.

■ Non-delivery of electricity until the parking lots are built and handed over to the Ministry of Finance.

■ Provide the necessary car parking areas to serve the proposed site No. 1 within its limits according to the specifications followed by the Kuwait Municipality.

■ Commitment and adherence to the responses of the Public Utilities and Services Subcommittee during its meeting held on June 28, and coordination with it before implementation.

■ Authorizing the administration to move or modify the shape or dimensions of the sites in the event that they conflict during installation with existing infrastructure services or for any regulatory reasons prior to installation.
