Municipality razes 955 commercial campsites

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 31: Kuwait Municipality has announced the removal of 955 camping sites in various governorates due to violations and 114 camping sites used for commercial purposes, in addition to the issuance of 956 warnings.

In a press statement, the Studies and Modernization Committee for Spring Camping Season at the Municipality disclosed that the inspectors from the Public Sanitation and Roads Occupancy Department and emergency team in Jahra issued 582 warnings to the owners of camping sites found to have violated the rules, removed 556 unlicensed camping sites and 68 others were removed as they were used for commercial purposes.

A total of 374 warnings were issued to erring owners of camping sites in Ahmadi Governorate, 285 unlicensed camping sites were removed and 46 others were removed as they were used for commercial purposes.

The committee appealed to owners of camping sites in areas, which were allowed to obtain a license according to the conditions stated in management circular number 1017/2018 issued by the Municipality through email, to strictly comply with the rules and regulations.

On the other hand, the Public Relations Department at the Municipality revealed that the Emergency Section in the Service Department received around 330 complaints through hotline number 139 in December 2018.

The complaints were about cleanliness, abandoned vehicles, boats and chalets among others. Ahmadi Governorate recorded the highest number of complaints with 71, followed by Mubarak Al-Kabeer with 69, Farwaniya with 54, Hawally with 52, Capital with 44 and Jahra with 40.
