ISLAMABAD, Feb 20: At least five people were killed and two others were injured in multiple explosions that rocked Afghanistan’s capital city Kabul on Saturday, said police.

According to Kabul police, the first explosion occurred in Darulaman Road in the west of Kabul in which two people were wounded.

The second explosion occurred a few minutes after the first blast killing three people, including a woman, in the Kart-e-Parwan area in Kabul’s police district 4. The third explosion happened in the Pul-e-Wahdat area in Kabul’s police district 3, hours after the second explosion, in which two people were killed. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blasts.
The incidents of violence came a day after United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in a statement to the media said, “The violence must decrease now.” On the issue of withdrawal of US forces he said, “We want to do this methodically and deliberately.”

The statement comes after Afghanistan and Taliban have agreed on procedural rules for the intra-Afghan peace negotiations in Doha, Qatar that were stalled over differences on ground rules for the talks(KUNA)
