DUBAI, Feb 25: As tensions keep rising between Washington and Tehran, a bunch of countries are pulling out diplomats’ families and non-essential staff from parts of the Middle East. Some have also started warning their citizens to put off trips to Iran, or just leave if they’re already there.

Australia:
Australia told diplomats’ dependents in Israel and Lebanon to get out because of growing security concerns. Dependents in some Gulf countries got the option to leave if they want. Australians in Israel and Lebanon are still being urged to leave while they can still get commercial flights.

Serbia:
Serbia told its citizens in Iran to leave as soon as possible, pointing to the risk of things getting worse.

Poland:
Poland’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, told Polish citizens to get out of Iran immediately.

United States:
The US is pulling out non-essential staff and eligible family members from its embassy in Lebanon, a State Department official said, because of the heightened tensions with Iran.

Sweden:
On January 12, 2026, Sweden’s Foreign Ministry told its citizens to avoid all travel to Iran and to leave immediately. Then in February, the Foreign Minister made it clear: if you decide to stay in Iran, don’t expect the Swedish government to help you get out.

India:
India’s embassy in Iran told its citizens to leave the country using commercial flights or any other available transport. They announced on February 23, 2026, through a post on X.

Cyprus:
Cyprus also told its citizens on January 13, 2026, to avoid traveling to Iran and to leave right away.

Singapore:
Singapore is sticking to its advice: citizens should keep deferring any travel to Iran.
