MPW takes precautionary steps to curb disasters in rainy season

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) has taken precautionary measures in the Sabah Al-Ahmad city to prevent ‘disasters’ during the next rainy season, reports Annahar daily. The MPW is said to have cleared the drainage systems and removed mud and sand mounds to prevent it from flowing in the drainage systems.

This is in addition to tours of the areas have been conducted by the civil defense personnel, from Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), the National Guard and the MPW.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Ismail Ali, paid a field visit a few weeks ago to the Sabah Al-Ahmad residential city particularly roads and bridges currently underway, in addition to inspecting the facilities that were exposed to water collection around the city after heavy rains last November.

The torrential rains were discussed according to the views of the Maintenance Engineering Sector and the Public Authority for Roads Transport, based on what was observed and reported during the previous rain season, in order to find the most urgent and temporary solutions to protect the Sabah Al Ahmad residential city from the effects of any incoming floods if they occur.

During this visit, the water collection sites were discovered south of the city and the outlets of the sewage drainage and the development of urgent and temporary solutions for the rainwater drainage mechanism.
