MPW signs KD 2.5m contract for road maintenance, other works

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: Minister of Public Works Dr. Rana Al-Faris has signed a public contract worth KD 2.5 million for the urgent maintenance of roads in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources. They explained that the duration of the contract implementation is 730 days. The contract is indivisible, and the basic work of this contract is for emergency work, miscellaneous work, small construction work, and small supplementary work for asphalt, tiles, curb stone, and so on. The main works of the contract include the repair of defects that appear on the surface of the asphalted roads including potholes, corrosion, cracks, and water pools, as well as adjusting levels, repairing cracks on the lids of manholes of all kinds, inspection for other service ministries, renovating any of them, and other actions based on the observations of the inspection teams or based on the complaints and requirements. The works will be decided based on the instructions of the supervising engineer.

They will all be in separate locations and in any number at one time. They could be for main roads and inner roads, asphalt or dirt yards, sidewalks, temporary roads, car parks, rainwater and sewer networks, and the works of other service ministries. The contract also includes roads and squares within ministries and state institutions, all according to the requirements of general maintenance determined by the maintenance engineering sector in accordance with the terms and technical specifications of this contract. It is estimated on the basis of the unit of measurement for each item, earthworks, foundation works, asphalt works, concrete works, sewage works and rainwater drainage system, directional and traffic signs, and services. The sources said the main work site of the contract is Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate but in different locations, as stated in the miscellaneous orders or any of the work orders issued by the maintenance engineering sector to the contractor. They added that the maintenance engineering sector has the right to issue any work order in any of the areas of other governorates.
