MPW requests cash to build Jleeb project

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16, (Agencies): The Ministry of Public Works has asked the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters to provide a budget for the construction of the ‘Farwaniya Cultural Center Building’ project in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh on 22,754 square meters area while the building area is 12,400 square meters, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The ministry stated this is one of the projects included in the development plan, which was delayed in implementation for several reasons, represented by “the delay in obtaining project licenses, the approval of the Ministry of Electricity and Water on electrical loads and the approval of sanitary engineering,” awaiting connection to the sewage network, and the absence of a budget for the project, in addition to the failure to approve the works of the fourth phase “the final design and executive plans” of the project.

The ministry said that the project consists of 7 buildings and includes the main theater and its services, a building for the plastic art halls and its annexes, a building for the seminars and lectures hall and its services, a building for the museum of antiquities and folklore and its annexes, a building for the library and its services, a building for the child center and its services, the administration building and its annexes, in addition to services area and the main lobby. It indicated that the estimated value of the project is 18.141 million dinars, while the cost of the design for the project was estimated at 646 thousand dinars.
