MPW allocates KD 22 million to develop drainage network, roads in Jleeb area

Municipality officials visiting the area with police to see the violations committed by residents and expats

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 15: The Kuwait Municipality, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and several government agencies, organized a campaign to monitor violations in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Rai daily. In this regard, the Director of Security Directorate of Farwaniya Security Major General Abdullah Al-Ali said, “We have instructed security officers to wear civilian clothes to arrest street vendors, saying between 18 to 20 street vendors and residence law violators are arrested on a daily basis.

In turn, said the Director General of the Kuwait Municipality Eng Ahmad Manfouhi pointed out that the Ministry of Public Works has allocated KD 22 million to develop the drainage network and roads in the Jleeb area, pointing that the government is determined to modify the status of the region.

He added, a joint committee will be formed comprising members from several government agencies and the work will begin in mid-November. He said the campaign will also target those who encroach on government property and target shops which operate without a licence. Al-Manfouhi said Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh faces lot of problems including the theft of manhole covers and illegal power connections.
