MP questions legitimacy of Kuwait Airways ‘free ticket’ move

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 22: MP Abdulkareem Al-Kandari forwarded queries to Minister of Finance Fahd Al-Jarallah about the decision that the Board of Directors of Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) took on Nov 21, 2023, to authorize the board chairman to exempt certain individuals and public institutions including the Amiri Diwan, Diwan of HH Crown Prince and Diwan of HH Prime Minister from paying the plane tickets and excess luggage. He wants to know the legal basis of this decision and the number of free plane tickets granted since 2018 till date. He added the Board of Directors justified the decision, stating this could improve the status of KAC.

He wondered how this could be a way of promoting and developing the airline. Lastly, National Assembly Speaker Ahmed Al-Saadoun recently met with Kuwaiti Consul in Milan Sheikh Jeber De’eij Al-Malek Al-Sabah, Ambassador to South Africa Salem Rashed Al- Shebli Saadoun, Ambassador to Brazil Talal Rashed Al-Mansour, Consul in Shanghai Anas Talib Maarefi, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for National Assembly and Cabinet Affairs Essa Al-Kandari. They discussed various issues.
