KUWAIT CITY, Dec 27: MP Hamdan Al-Azmi has forwarded queries to Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Khalifa Hamada about the announcement made by the Central Bank of Iraq on Dec 22, 2021, that Iraq already paid the final batch of compensation amounting to $44 million for damages suffered by Kuwait due to the Iraqi invasion. He requested for a detailed list of compensation paid to Kuwait as per the decision of the Compensation Committee at the United Nations — a total of $52.4 billion. He wants to know how the money has been spent so far, if Kuwait has granted loans to Iraq in the past 20 years, total amount of loans if the response is in the affirmative, and if Kuwait waived part of the compensation.
