KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: A man has been detained at an Ahmadi police station after driving in an intoxicated condition and attempting to flee from officers, resulting in a traffic accident and injuries.

According to a security source, a patrol in the Ahmadi area spotted a vehicle swerving and failing to stay within its lane. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off and collided with a motorcycle, causing the rider to suffer a broken leg and multiple bruises. The injured motorcyclist was taken to Adan Hospital for treatment.

The patrol then managed to apprehend the driver, who was found to be under the influence of drugs. The source added that the necessary legal procedures were initiated against him and he was referred to the competent authorities, with a case registered in accordance with standard procedures.

In a separate incident, traffic officers in Hawally arrested a Kuwaiti man in his forties, with a prior criminal record, who was also found to be under the influence of drugs while committing a traffic violation.

In detail, a Hawally traffic patrol noticed a vehicle violating traffic regulations and stopped it to take legal action. The driver was discovered to be under the influence of drugs and in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Further checks revealed he was a Kuwaiti citizen in his forties with a criminal record. He was taken into custody and referred to the competent authorities for further legal action.
