Mourners in a local Kuwaiti Hussainiya commemorating ‘Ashoura.’

KUWAIT CITY, June 27: Mosques and Hussainiyas throughout the country held ceremonies commemorating Ashoura and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (Peace be Upon Him), his family and companions on Friday morning, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Worshippers gathered to commemorate the events on that day, and the lasting sacrifices and stances it embodied. The gatherings on the 11th night of Muharram continued, recalling the aftermath of the tragedy of Imam Hussein’s martyrdom and the suffering and anguish endured by his family.

Speakers at the Hussainiya pulpits emphasized that the message of Karbala did not end with the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (Peace be Upon Him), as it signaled the beginning of a new phase in which the Ahlul-Bayt (Peace be Upon Them) assumed the responsibility of preserving the movement and revealing the truth about what befell the Muslim nation. They stressed that Imam Hussein’s victory was a victory for principles and values, and that sacrifice, steadfastness and dignity conveyed a timeless humanitarian message that transcends time and place.

They explained that this occasion is an opportunity to draw inspiration from the real meanings of patience, steadfastness and responsibility, asserting that the uprising of Imam Hussein (Peace be Upon Him) taught generations that defending the truth is not measured by the results of battles, but by the soundness of one’s principles and adherence to values and constants. They called for emulating the Ahlul-Bayt (Peace be Upon Them) in terms of ethics, faith and reform, and for consolidating the values of unity, compassion and community service. They affirmed that Ashoura will remain an enduring school of awareness, dignity and the triumph of truth.
