Ministry seeks to strengthen its partnership with govt agencies

KUWAIT CITY, April 19: Last week, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Community Development Abdulaziz Al-Mutairi announced that the ministry had received a donation of KD 100,000 from the Public Authority for Minors Affairs to support the projects related to “surrogate mother” and “marriage of children under family custody”, reports Aljarida daily. In a press statement, Al-Mutairi explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Family Fostering Department, seeks to strengthen its partnership with government agencies and civil society institutions to develop work and provide the best services to the inmates of the Family Fostering Department.

The donation contributes to the development of one of the most important projects of the department in a true translation of cooperation and collaboration between government agencies. It is a bright spot in the course of the achievements of officials of the Public Authority for Minors Affairs.

Orphaned
He called on civil society organizations and government agencies to extend a hand of cooperation to the orphaned children of the family nursery under the umbrella of Ministry of Social Affairs. Regarding the surrogate mother project, Al- Mutairi said, “Kuwait is among the pioneering countries in caring for children, especially those of unknown parents, through the development of vital projects aimed at creating a healthy environment in which the child can coexist.” He affirmed that the surrogate mother project is based on this foundation and relies on providing surrogate mothers in the shelters for orphans to guide, educate and raise children according to psychosocial programs with the aim of giving them a sound social upbringing that helps them overcome psychological obstacles, stabilize their behavior and encourage them to integrate into society.

Regarding the number of surrogate mothers in the family nursery department, Al-Mutairi said there are six mothers who carry out their duties to the fullest extent through the guidance of the technical work team of social workers and psychologists. As for the children’s marriage project, Al- Mutairi stressed the keenness of ministry leaders and department officials to provide all aspects of support to encourage children to marry, help them form families and complete their lives in a stable environment, and help them towards integration into society.
