MoFA keen to monitor foreign transfers: Al-Mutairi

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs Abdulaziz Sari Al-Mutairi affirmed that all donations to Gaza reach those who deserve it. In a press statement issued yesterday, he affirmed the keenness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to monitor foreign transfers, as they go to associations and destinations approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whether in Gaza or in countries close to it. Al-Mutairi explained that the ministry, since the beginning of the crisis in Gaza, took the initiative to communicate with the relevant charities.

All requests to collect donations submitted by these parties were directly approved. Coordination was also made with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find out the mechanism for these donations to reach those affected in Gaza. He said the ministry continues to follow up and monitor donations inside Kuwait, and all requests for collecting donations are submitted through the automated system and are approved immediately through the system. Recently, the ministry issued a statement in which it called for the need to ensure that donations are made to charities that are approved and registered by it and to verify the identity of the fundraiser and his affiliation with the entities authorized to collect donations.

The ministry stressed the prohibition of cash donations, as the donation must be made through authorized fundraising methods, which are K-NET, bank deductions, electronic payment links, and electronic payment devices. It warned against carrying out campaigns to collect donations without obtaining prior approval from the relevant administration, in order to avoid legal accountability, and in compliance with the law regulating the licensing of collecting money for public purposes.
