DOHA, Dec 6: Qatar has introduced a series of enhancements to its Hayya GCC Resident Visa as part of preparations for a surge in regional travel during an upcoming season packed with major international events. The updates, announced by Qatar Tourism in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Permanent Committee for Managing Visitor Entry, came into effect on November 30.
Under the revised regulations, GCC residents are now allowed to stay in Qatar for up to two months with multiple-entry privileges, enabling visitors to enter and exit the country freely throughout the season. The move comes as Qatar gears up to host a variety of large-scale sporting, cultural and entertainment events, including the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, which is expected to draw significant regional interest.
The updated Hayya framework aims to streamline entry procedures across all air, land and sea ports while strengthening Qatar’s operational readiness during peak travel periods. Saeed Al Kuwari, Director of Hayya, said the changes reflect a broader strategic vision rather than routine policy adjustments.
“These measures go beyond procedural updates,” Al Kuwari said. “They reflect Qatar Tourism’s commitment to strengthening openness toward the region, facilitating visitor movement during major events, boosting arrivals and enhancing tourism’s contribution to the national economy.”
The Hayya platform currently offers five visa categories: Tourist Visa (A1), GCC Resident Visa (A2), Visa with ETA (A3), Companion of a GCC Citizen Visa (A4), and Visa-Free Entry for U.S. Citizens (F1). By simplifying access for GCC residents, Qatar aims to stimulate regional tourism, attract event-goers, and reinforce its reputation as a leading destination for global events.
Managed by Qatar Tourism, the Hayya platform serves as Qatar’s official digital gateway for visas and visitor services, integrating visa processing, event access, travel guidance, transportation and lifestyle information into a single system. In addition to easing entry at airports and land borders, Hayya encourages visitors to explore Qatar’s cultural landmarks, natural attractions and year-round events calendar.
