KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: In a proactive move, the Maintenance Engineering Sector within the Ministry of Public Works executed repair operations targeting potholes across various streets. The initiative covered 19 sites distributed across 8 regions. The undertaking reflects the commitment of Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, to address hazardous road conditions by repairing potholes promptly, pending the issuance of maintenance tenders for governorates and highways.
Informed sources within the ministry disclosed to Al-Rai that the remediation efforts align with Minister Al-Mashaan's directives, as she identified and prioritized these problematic potholes during her recent tour. The initiative responds to the demands of residents in affected areas, with ongoing monitoring of deep and perilous potholes to prepare for comprehensive treatment and maintenance.
The sources outlined that the Maintenance Engineering Sector executed pothole treatments through four maintenance contracts. These include an urgent and emergency maintenance contract for roads in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, a similar contract for Al-Ahmadi Governorate, and general maintenance contracts for roads and squares in Farwaniya Governorate and the Capital Governorate.
As part of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate maintenance contract, the Ministry treated and repaired four damaged sites, focusing on two areas in Abu Ftaira and two in the Al-Masayel region. Additionally, urgent and emergency maintenance in Al-Ahmadi Governorate addressed excavations at four sites in the Al-Wafra residential area, particularly in Plot No. 3.
The Maintenance Engineering Sector further addressed potholes in the Mahboula area (Coastal Street) and Route 240 through the general maintenance contract for the Farwaniya Governorate. Five sites in the Jahra region, specifically in Al-Qasr and Al-Naim areas, received pothole treatment.
Through the Farwaniya maintenance contract, the Ministry maintained two sites in the Salmiya area, focusing on Plot No. 12, and treated potholes at a site in the Ardiya area. Additionally, a site on Jaber Al-Mubarak Street in Kuwait City underwent treatment as part of the contract for the maintenance of roads and squares in the Capital Governorate.
