MoI gets tough as 25 Kuwaitis, 12 Egyptian brokers caught for trading in work permits

KUWAIT CITY, April 21: The Ministry of Interior has taken stringent measures against the visa traders.

The daily quoting reliable sources said the trade became transparent following the April 30 deadline given by the Minister of Interior, Anas Al-Saleh for residence law violators to leave the country without paying fines, keeping the option open to return to the country and the air ticket paid for by the government.

It is common knowledge that many of these violators were brought to the country and were left in the open to fend for themselves. The source said that the Ministry of Interior will implement intensive security campaigns to arrest the violators who have not surrendered, and will impose the most severe penalties according to the law.

The source pointed out that the General Department of Residence Affairs Investigation has taken into custody 25 Kuwaitis for trading in visas and 12 Egyptians working as brokers. The source pointed out all those arrested will be referred to the Public Prosecution in the near future.

The source revealed when the security authorities checked the records of some companies, each of them had in their file about 4 thousand workers of different nationalities. One of the Kuwaitis who is a suspect of visa trading is believed to be the nephew of a former governor.
