MoI dismisses 2 officers, 6 policemen for not registering seized liquor bottles

KUWAIT CITY, June 29: In what is seen as punitive measures in public interest and to instill discipline in the ‘security house’ Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt Gen Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah, has issued a decision to dismiss from service two officers and six policemen for negligence and exploiting their authority, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting security sources.

Security sources the officers include one captain and the other a first lieutenant, and the six policemen were working under them. They are accused of not ‘registering’ the bottles of alcohol seized at regular intervals and failed to hand over the confiscated booze to the ministry warehouse from where it is taken to an open area and destroyed.

The same sources said the 8 men in uniform were interrogated and a report was sent to the minister who formed a special investigation committee to look into this sensitive case before taking a decision to dismiss them from work.
