KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10:   The Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector has outlined the conditions governing vehicles designated for towing objects and trailers, in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 4391 of 2015, stressing the need for full compliance to ensure road safety.

According to Article (2) of the resolution, vehicles designed for towing and the trailers themselves must meet a set of technical and safety requirements. Drivers are required to comply with the designated road speed limits, with towing vehicles not exceeding 60 kilometers per hour. The presence of passengers inside trailers is strictly prohibited under all circumstances.

The sector emphasized the importance of safety readiness, requiring drivers to provide necessary safety tools, reflective tape, and to ensure that all lighting systems are fully functional before using public roads. Loads must be properly distributed and securely fastened to prevent movement during transit.

The regulations also set clear dimensional limits, stipulating that the height of the trailer from the ground must not exceed four meters, the total combined length of the vehicle and the towed object must not exceed 15 meters, and the maximum allowable width of the trailer is capped at 260 centimeters.

In addition, towing vehicles must be equipped with additional side mirrors, the towing hitch and safety chains must be inspected regularly, and drivers are required to adhere to the far-right lane of the road. Vehicles must also be officially registered as “designated for towing” in the registration book, and any removable towing equipment must be disconnected once towing operations are completed.

The Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector warned that failure to comply with these conditions constitutes a violation of traffic regulations and may result in legal action, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to maintaining safety and orderly traffic flow on Kuwait’s roads.
