MOI Denies Social Media Claims Over Border Exit Ban for Unpaid Traffic Fines

KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that all vehicles with unpaid traffic violations are being prevented from leaving Kuwait through border crossings.

In a clarification, the ministry said the measure applies only to vehicles subject to judicial or precautionary impoundment and those with expired insurance policies, in accordance with approved legal procedures. It stressed that the restriction does not apply to vehicles with outstanding traffic violations.

The ministry also clarified that Kuwaiti citizens are not required to pay traffic fines before departing through border crossings. However, expats must settle any outstanding traffic violations before leaving the country, in line with the applicable laws and regulations.

The MoI urged the public to verify information through official sources and refrain from circulating or publishing unconfirmed reports.
