MoH to dispense medicines via e-system

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: Assistant Undersecretary for Food and Drug Control at the Ministry of Health Dr Abdullah Al-Bader said the ministry will link the “electronic prescription” in the public and private sectors in 2019, reports Al-Anba daily.

He added, it is a system that aims to dispense medicines to patients via the electronic system. This system will help keep in check the medicines that have been dispensed and the medicines available in the warehouses to prevent waste and theft which will also help protect public money.

In an exclusive interview with the daily, Dr Al-Bader announced a meeting will be held with international companies early next year in coordination with the Public Authority for Industry to encourage them to invest and establish pharmaceutical factories in the country.

At the same time he pointed at the existence of a trend to establish an independent medicine body in Kuwait. He stressed the application of the amendment of the law regulating the profession of pharmacy for the issuance of licenses to practice the profession of Kuwaiti pharmacists in the cooperative societies June 20, 2019. He pointed to the decline in the prices of medicines in Kuwait which has reached 86%, referring to the licensing of 26 health announcements ‘Online’.
