KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: Assistant Undersecretary for Medicine Control Affairs in Ministry of Health Dr Abdullah Al-Bader revealed that the ministry received 11 reports of violations related to prices of medicine, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement he explained that investigations into the reports revealed that five of them were made on products that are not under the ministry’s control of prices of medicines. One of the reports has been referred to the Public Prosecution after the report was verified.

The remaining five violation reports are still being legally sorted before they are referred to the legal affairs department of the ministry to complete necessary legal process concerning the violations. Dr Al-Bader said, “The punishment for manipulation of medicine prices, as per article No. 15 of the pharmacy law No. 28/1996, is jail term not exceeding six months and/ or a fine not exceeding KD 2,000”.
