KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3:  The Ministry of Health (MoH) has inaugurated a two-week training program aimed at enhancing the skills and qualifications of nurses working in the obstetrics and gynecology departments. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Oman College of Health Sciences, based in the Sultanate of Oman.

The course, currently underway at the new maternity hospital, involves thirty nurses drawn from various hospitals across Kuwait. It forms part of a broader training plan outlined in a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry and the Oman College.

Dr. Iman Al-Awadhi, Director of Nursing Services, emphasized in a press statement on Sunday that the training encompasses both theoretical lectures and hands-on practice within a simulation laboratory. The program’s primary goal is to equip participating nurses with comprehensive knowledge and practical competencies essential for delivering safe and effective care to women throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum periods.

This obstetric nursing course marks the fourth specialized training session organized in 2025 in cooperation with the Oman College of Health Sciences. Earlier sessions focused on premature and neonatal care, accident and emergency nursing, and the preparation and qualification of nurse educators and trainers within hospital settings.

The Ministry of Health continues to prioritize professional development for its nursing workforce to ensure the highest standards of maternal and neonatal care nationwide.
