KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: The Ministry of Health (MoH) launched its annual environmental sanitation campaign in public schools on Tuesday, ahead of the new academic year. The initiative, which includes pest and rodent control measures, is being coordinated with the Ministry of Education and will continue until mid-September.
Dr. Fatima Al-Dariweesh, Head of the Insect and Rodent Control Department at MoH, said the campaign has so far treated 375 schools out of 915 nationwide. Coverage includes 112 schools in the capital, 58 in Hawalli, 35 in Farwaniya, 61 in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, 44 in Ahmadi, and 65 in Jahra.
The campaign aims to provide a healthy and safe environment for students and school staff by using safe pest control methods that protect public health and preserve the environment. Dr. Al-Dariweesh added that environmental sanitation campaigns are ongoing across Kuwait to address conditions that could promote disease spread or pest infestations.
The Ministry of Health also encourages citizens to report issues related to rodents or medical insects via its 24/7 hotline at 151.
