KUWAIT CITY, May 8: Due to vaccine shipment delays and vaccine shortage, the Ministry of Health (MoH) is now facing limited options in terms of continuing the corona vaccination campaign at the current pace to achieve herd immunity and curb the spread of the virus, reports Al-Qabas daily. The ministry is developing a protocol to seriously deal with vaccine shipment delays; hence, the possibility of combining two different vaccines and extending vaccination duration between two doses by giving a booster dose after a certain period.

Government sources informed the daily that a study will be concluded soon on the possibility of administering Pfizer vaccine as a second dose for those who took Oxford vaccine as the first dose, in case the Oxford vaccine shipments are delayed longer than expected. Sources said the option of combining vaccines will be officially approved within days, adding that the most suitable vaccines to be administered in combination with the Oxford vaccine are Pfizer and Moderna.
