‘AIDS cases in Kuwait normal’

KUWAIT CITY, June 28: The Ministry of Health is in the process of signing 3 contracts worth more than 1.6 million dinars to purchase medicines to treat AIDS, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily quoting sources said the Ministry of Health has requested the approval from the regulatory authorities for a contract to purchase pills for the treatment of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and HIV at a value of 3594000 dinars and other medicines worth 781.8 thousand dinars.

On the same level, the Ministry of Health confirmed that the rate of AIDS cases in Kuwait is within the normal range and expected rates, which are among the international rates. The ministry said, in an explanatory statement, that the approval of conducting a laboratory examination for HIV for all tuberculosis patients comes as a continuation of the examinations and health care for them, and as a preventive measure, in accordance with the latest international protocols and recommendations, and to preserve public health.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health said that the AIDS cases in the State of Kuwait fall within the normal and expected rates, reports Al-Jarida daily. The sourced stressing the approval given to conduct HIV tests for TB patients comes as a precautionary measure and in line with providing health care in accordance with international recommendations, and to maintain on public health.
