KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: Pfizer, the manufacturer of the COVID-19 vaccine, affirmed that the arrival of the COVID-19 in Kuwait is imminent, but it will soon inform Kuwait’s Ministry of Health about the final shipment and supply schedule, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has placed the Moderna vaccine under observation after the US Food and Drug Administration approved the use of the vaccine.

According to reliable sources from the ministry, the ministry has been monitoring the latest developments and experiments that are being carried out on more than one vaccine around the world in order to reserve quantities of them as soon as they obtain official approvals, after procuring separate quantities previously.

The registration and licensing of any vaccine or drug is related to the company pledging to import it with an official request to the Ministry of Health, for consideration and then issuing approval for it or not.

The Moderna vaccine is the second after the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine to receive FDA approval. The vaccine of Pfizer is likely to arrive in Kuwait within days.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Committee for the COVID-19 pandemic at the Ministry of Health Dr. Khaled Al-Jarallah said the number of those who have registered to receive COVID-19 vaccinations in Kuwait through the vaccination link released by the Ministry of Health has exceeded 60,000 people.

He affirmed that the number of recipients of the Pfizer vaccine globally reached 1.2 million as of Thursday, December 17.
