MOH adopts new guidelines for medical consultations

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 10: Ministry of Health has adopted several guidelines to cover medical consultations for the field hospitals due to an increase in the hospital’s bed capacity and the need for medical teams to provide medical consultations in their various specialties (internal medicine and its branches – general and specialized surgery – dermatology), reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the guidelines, Mubarak Hospital will cover medical consultations in the subspecialties of the Department of Internal Medicine: Endocrinology – Neurology – Rheumatism – Digestive System – Hematology – Vascular Surgery.

With regard to the departments of general surgery, urology, burn surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedics, eyes, nose, ear, throat, dental and dermatology, the medical team covers consultations for field hospitals, each according to its specialization.

The guidelines stated that if the patient needs urgent cardiac catheterization, he is transferred to Jaber Hospital’s “Cardiac Care Unit.” The guideline confirmed that the Department of Neurosurgery at Ibn Sina Hospital covers medical consultations for emergency cases of neurosurgery.

It stipulates that “in the event that the patient needs surgical intervention or specialized surgery after the medical consultation of emergency cases, the patient is taken to the referral hospital according to the health region to which he belongs.
