KUWAIT CITY, July 2: Ministry of Education has asked Civil Service Commission (CSC) to approve 2,000 job grades for the new expatriate teachers who will sign contracts with the ministry irrespective of whether they were hired locally or from overseas, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to informed sources, Ministry of Education is in need of expatriate teachers of both genders for certain specializations especially Mathematics, Science and the languages. CSC intends to issue conditions such as limiting the hiring of expatriates for teaching and laboratory assistant jobs and not for administrative jobs or positions of social workers and psychologists.

Moreover other sources said Kuwait Chamber for Commerce and Industry (KCCI) objected to the decision to increase the fines imposed on companies of the private sector for violations related to commitment to quota of national labors to almost KD 300 for each violation.

They revealed that KCCI stressed the need to offer benefits to the companies that are committed to the stated quota of national labors such as priority in winning state tenders. The sources indicated such benefits were stated previously by the government but they did not bring about the desired results due to which issuing some penalties seemed to be a better solution.
