MoE ready to sign contracts for teachers in all subjects – Soon hire teachers locally

KUWAIT CITY, March 13: General Department of Overseas Hiring at the Arab Republic of Egypt’s Education Ministry has indicated readiness to realize Kuwait’s need for teachers of all subjects in various education levels for academic year 2018/2019, reports Al-Rai daily.

A letter from Head of Kuwaiti Cultural Office in Egypt Dr Ahmad Al-Mutairi to the Ministry of Education’s Undersecretary Haitham Al-Athari indicated the department is ready to sign contracts in all subjects. He stressed that the foreign contract committees will later depart for Egypt and Jordan in case the local recruitment cannot cover the shortage. He was surprised that the ministry continues to reject graduates of the Arab Open University in education sector regardless it is among the recognized universities at the Ministry of Higher Education.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Finance Khalifa Hamada has approved 13 tenders worth KD 36.89 million for the implementation of major Ministry of Education maintenance and construction projects, as part of the capital expenditure for fiscal year 2017/2018, reports Al-Rai daily.

A letter from Undersecretary Hamada to his Education counterpart Dr Haitham Al- Athari indicates the Ministry of Education has listed 50 tenders for this fiscal year and amended the total cost of projects as per decisions issued by Central Tenders Committee (CTC).

Content of the 13 tenders includes allocation of KD 1.890 million for the renovation and reconstruction of a nursery in Ahmadi, construction of a boys elementary school worth KD 2.750 million in Sabah Al-Nasser Area, the construction of middle schools for male and female at Sabah Al-Nasser Area at a cost of KD 7.5 million, in addition to an elementary school for girls in Ishbiliya Area valued at KD 2.750 million.

It also includes allocation of KD 7 million, of which KD 1.750 million each will be spent on the renovation and reconstruction of Al-Kholoud Nursery in Salmiya, and two nurseries at Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Salwa and Egaila respectively. The ministry received KD 15 million to build 50 physical education halls in Ahmadi, Hawalli, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Capital and Jahra governorates at the rate of 10 halls worth KD 3 million per governorate.

MoE to soon hire teachers locally: The Ministry of Education will soon hire teachers locally as part of preparations for school year 2018/2019, reports Al- Anba daily quoting sources. Sources revealed the local contracting door will be open to expatriates, GCC nationals and Bedouns; indicating the Public Education Sector has specified the required specializations which will be announced next week. Sources clarified the recruitment of teachers from abroad will be done only if none of those who will apply locally is qualified.

The fingerprints of employees in the Education Ministry, except those assigned in schools, will be linked with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) system to prevent manipulation as per the circular issued to governmental authorities, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily has obtained information that the linking procedures started gradually in various departments to identify technical faults if any. Sources affirmed this will tighten control over the attendance of and leave of employees.
