MoE readies 161 schools for ’26/’27 school year

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: As part of its ongoing preparations for the 2026/2027 academic year, the Ministry of Education continues to implement its comprehensive plans to provide schools with all their educational and logistical needs, in accordance with the directives of Minister of Education Engineer Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The ministry explained that the Supplies and Warehouses Department continues its efforts to equip and furnish schools with the required school furniture , based on needs assessments received from the relevant authorities and approved distribution plans. The equipping and furnishing process currently covers 161 schools across various educational zones.

The plan includes providing schools with more than 15,000 pieces of student furniture for different educational levels, including chairs specifically designed for kindergarten, furniture suitable for primary, intermediate, and secondary levels, as well as improved student desks that can be configured and rearranged to suit the nature of educational activities. The plan for distributing the improved furniture also includes fully furnishing five new schools with this type of furniture, including two schools for gifted students. The upgraded school furniture features flexible and practical designs that allow desks to be arranged in various classroom configurations. This supports individual, group, and collaborative learning styles while enhancing student interaction and participation in the classroom.

The specifications adopted for the new furniture take into account student comfort, safety, and quality of use. The ministry went on to explain that equipping and enhancing schools with furniture is a key component of its preparation plan for the 2026/2027 academic year. The plan aims to meet the actual needs of educational institutions and enhance their readiness, while providing a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment that supports students and teachers and keeps pace with the requirements of modern education. Meanwhile, Firas Kartash, Director of the Supplies and Warehouses Department at the Ministry of Education, confirmed that the department is working diligently to complete the equipping of new and existing schools and provide them with all required student and school furniture in accordance with the ministry’s approved plan.
