MOE accepting residence renewal applications of stranded teachers with expired residence

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: The Ministry of Education has started receiving online residency permit renewal applications for teachers whose residency permits expired while they are outside the country.

Informed educational sources revealed that the Administrative Sector received many residency renewal applications from outside the country; indicating that around 1,000 teachers were prevented from returning to the country due to circumstances brought about by the corona pandemic.

Sources said the sector works through two channels to receive renewal applications — one is external in coordination with its public education counterpart, and the other is internal for teachers whose residency expired while they are inside the country, reports Al-Anba daily.  Sources confirmed the ministry receives visitors daily to carry out renewal procedures — whether for teachers, administrators or service providers.

Sources added the number of renewed residency permits for teachers inside the country has so far reached 2,500 and these were completed in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.
