KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah affirmed that the National Smart Transport and Services Forum serves as a strategic platform bringing together government entities and private-sector institutions to establish effective partnerships and advance smart transport services.
Speaking at the opening of the forum on Tuesday, Sheikh Fahad stressed that the development of smart transport and services, including light transport systems, represents a key pillar in enhancing traffic safety and improving the efficiency of traffic and mobility management. He explained that this can be achieved by expanding the use of smart systems, data analysis, and modern technological solutions that support preventive efforts and help reduce traffic accidents.
He added that the upcoming phase requires updating regulatory and legislative frameworks to keep pace with rapid developments in the smart transport and services sector, while strengthening shared responsibility and supporting effective partnerships between government bodies and the private sector to ensure the sustainability of development in this vital sector.
Sheikh Fahad pointed out that the organization of the forum reflects the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to supporting the development of the smart transport and services system, consolidating governance concepts, and strengthening institutional partnerships. He emphasized the importance of developing light transport modes and enhancing the role of modern technologies in traffic management, and improving the efficiency of operational systems related to the transport sector.
The forum witnessed participation from several government and private-sector entities, in addition to the Abu Dhabi Transportation Center, and featured a number of specialized panel discussions addressing governance, regulation, partnership and the role of legislation in building an integrated smart transport and services system.
It also showcased practical models and experiences that contribute to the advancement of smart transport services and modern mobility solutions, reflecting the Ministry of Interior’s approach to strengthening joint institutional work and building effective partnerships aimed at enhancing smart transport services and achieving the highest standards of traffic safety.
