KUWAIT CITY, Oct 27: Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on Monday launched a new package of electronic services in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Department of Traffic, to streamline procedures for commercial activities under the Interior Ministry’s jurisdiction.
Acting Undersecretary of MoCI, Marwa Al-Juaidan, told KUNA that the new services are part of the ministry’s efforts to enhance digital transformation and simplify business procedures for companies and entrepreneurs.
Al-Juaidan explained that the initiative includes the “Smart License” project, designed to unify government procedures and facilitate business services through a single electronic platform. The platform allows instant electronic verification of business data and security approvals, eliminating the need for paper documents.
The Smart License, issued with a single barcode, consolidates all related approvals and procedures, reducing paperwork while ensuring complete electronic documentation.
She said the launch marks an advanced stage in Kuwait’s digital transformation project, improving procedural efficiency and user experience. The initiative reflects ongoing cooperation between MoCI and the Ministry of Interior to ensure smooth processing of commercial activities overseen by the General Directorate of Traffic. Al-Juaidan praised the Interior Ministry’s support in implementing the joint effort.
The package of new e-services covers 61 activities, particularly in the automotive, transportation, and heavy equipment sectors. Al-Juaidan noted that the cooperation enables immediate verification of business data and security approvals electronically, streamlining operations and saving time.
She added that the ministry continues to develop digital services to enhance the competitiveness of Kuwait’s business environment and contribute to achieving the country’s digital vision.
